Covid-19 ECQ Reminds Me of Why We Fell in Love

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced us all to stay at home because of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). The declaration has been extended to 30 days in order to prevent the spread of the virus and to flatten the curve. For our family, that would mean a total of 45 days of self-imposed quarantine because we started early. So we are staying safe at home and I keep cooking and eating. With that, I got to reminisce the reason why we fell in love in the first place — 20 years ago.

Why We Fell in Love

Hubby and I were probably attracted to each other for different reasons. When I first saw him lead the worship singing in a local church more than 20 years ago, I was attracted to his really smooth white skin. He was glowing!

Korean dramas were not trending yet back but we did have the Taiwanese TV series entitled Meteor Garden. I didn’t really associate him with that, however, I did admire his enviable, glowing skin. Haha

Hubby is pretty much like the embodiment of K-Drama leading men. hihihi

Hubby, on the other hand, wanted to get to know me on the first few instances we saw each other in church. He found me interesting – is what he said. But according to him, he decided that he wanted to marry me when he has tasted my cooking. Hahaha The love potion worked! I always joke that we have given each other love potion because we are almost inseparable. One of the reasons why I encouraged him to blog is because we can go out together and cover events as a Bacolod blogger. And it has paid off because hubby has already won a blog award for one of his articles! Read more about his achievement: Hubby Wins His First Blog Award

During the Covid-19 ECQ

Now that we are on quarantine, I keep cooking at home to while away time. It keeps me sane and spending time in the kitchen is very therapeutic for me. Plus, my cooking makes the family happy. The kids are enjoying the different dishes I prepare every day. Of course, hubby enjoys it much more. Our problem now is going out after the quarantine—we might not fit through our door!

For this Covid-19 community quarantine, I keep cooking and we keep eating. Now, I am afraid to check my weight! haha

I am doing this to also keep the morale of the family. It is bad enough to be cooped up in the house for an entire month. But it is another thing to get stuck without having hot and good meals to enjoy.

Kitchen Realizations

But now, I realize that, after cooking daily for more than a month now, it’s like we are reminiscing why we fell in love in the first place. Hubby keeps enjoying the food I make while I also enjoy having him around more. While others say that we should spend some time away from our spouses so that we will not get tired of each other, it’s quite the opposite with us. The more we are together, the happier we are.

I don’t know about your situation, but in our case where we have been cooped up for more than a month now, it got me to a lot of thinking. This is just the time to rekindle that romance where everything started. 🙂

Foodie Partner

One of the things that had an impact on us when we were still getting to know each other is that we don’t have to put up false pretense. Dennis and I were just very comfortable in each other’s company. There’s a certain warmth and connection and we didn’t need to impress each other with superficial things.

I may not have rested physically during this time but I am a happy wife, fulfilled with the love of the family surrounding me.
