In a few days, we will be celebrating Christmas. And in the Philippines, we celebrate Christmas like no other because we are a predominantly Christian country. It is a happy time of the year and the celebrations last more than a month! I should know–our first Christmas party happened on November 30.
While most people, if not all celebrate Christmas and have their own traditions, even these practices change over the years. In my case, the holidays have not been the same in my 40 years. Most of the changes hail from the fact that people come and go in my life. For reasons such as distance and lack of communication, I have good friends in the past who are now merely acquaintances. But I guess that is just part of life and God brings new people in your life.
Now, I have my own family and have found new friends—at least people that we hang out often. And thank God that our endeavor to keep blogging has forged new friendships—that of our blogging family.
The Negrense Blogging Society, better known as the Negros Bloggers, also celebrated Christmas in a party that we held last week at the L’Fisher Hotel. We are a motley crew—different ages, backgrounds, and stands on issues. But we respect each other. And if there is anything that we agree on, is that we just want to have fun.
Last December 12, 2015, we celebrated our very fun party at the L’Fisher Hotel. This is the second party that my wife and I attended and it is now becoming a part of our family Christmas tradition as we also bring our kids along. Last year, we had our party at the videoke bar across the street and we had our group photo taken with L’Fisher in the background. We wished that for our next party, we are going to have it at L’Fisher. That is why we are so thankful that L’Fisher agreed to host our party this year. Indeed, dreams to come true.
Aside from L’Fisher Hotel, we also have our major sponsors to thank: Victorias Foods Corporation, Merzci Pasalubong, Quan Delicacies, Bongbong’s Barquillos, and Meganox Antioxidant. We pray that this Negros Bloggers tradition will continue to keep on growing each year.
Anyway, no matter how Christmas traditions may change, one thing will remain constant, the reason for the season—our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We should always bear in mind the whole picture of Christmas, which includes His reason for coming. Merry Christmas everyone!
