With the 2025 National and Local Elections fast approaching, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) have joined forces to ensure uninterrupted power this election 2025.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was officially signed on April 7, 2025, during a ceremonial event held at the Negros Power headquarters. Present during the signing were COMELEC Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Ian Lee M. Ananoria, Negros Power President and CEO Roel Z. Castro, COO Engr. Bailey Del Castillo, and other key officials from both parties.

Powering Democracy with Confidence

One of the main goals of this partnership is to provide stable and reliable electricity throughout the election period. To demonstrate their readiness, Engr. Felgie C. Magla-oy, Systems Operation Manager of Negros Power, presented the company’s Election Power Readiness Plan.

The plan outlines proactive technical and operational measures to make sure there’s no power disruption before, during, or after election day—ensuring voters can cast their ballots with full confidence.

Key Highlights of the COMELEC-Negros Power MOA

This collaboration focuses on smooth coordination, transparency, and public awareness. Here’s what both parties agreed on:

  • Promote voter awareness campaigns

Negros Power’s Commitment:

  • Guarantee a reliable power distribution system
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and clearing operations
  • Deploy technical teams to support COMELEC on election day

In addition, COMELEC information materials will be included in Negros Power’s monthly billing statements, reaching around 230,000 households in Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, Bago, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto.

“This collaboration strengthens our shared commitment to protect the democratic process and deliver clean, honest, and credible elections,” said Atty. Ananoria.

Negros Power President Roel Z. Castro echoed this sentiment, stating:

“We are fully prepared to ensure a reliable power supply throughout the entire election period. This is our way of contributing to a secure and credible electoral process.”

No Added Costs, Just Strong Coordination

The agreement between COMELEC and Negros Power will stay in place until the successful conclusion of the 2025 National and Local Elections. It’s also worth noting that there are no budgetary implications for COMELEC—making this a cost-effective initiative focused purely on service, coordination, and public trust.
