To further their cause of making digital innovations available for every Filipino, PLDT Home, in partnership with Zone V Camera Club and the Virlanie Foundation, recently inaugurated The Learning Hub in Barangay Bagong Silangan, Quezon City. This initiative aims to uplift the lives of Filipino students and their communities. By providing accessible digital resources and reliable internet connectivity, that vision has further become a reality.
The Learning Hub: Breaking Digital Barriers
The primary objective of The Learning Hub is to offer Filipino children a free-to-use learning space. The best part is, that PLDT Home has equipped the hub with high-speed internet connectivity. This enables access to a wealth of educational materials and digital tools. Children can explore and learn using computers equipped with various applications, creating an ideal learning environment.
“Connectivity is a fundamental right, and our mission is to ensure that no learner is left behind,” remarked Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT and Smart Communications Director, President, and CEO. “Our goal is to empower these communities by granting access to the vast global repository of the internet and establishing a robust learning hub.”

Community Impact and Support
More than just a space for education, The Learning Hub is designed to unlock opportunities for low-income families. It serves as a gateway to potential livelihood avenues while also offering a secure entertainment hub, enriching the community experience.
According to Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT and Smart Communications Director, President, and CEO, “Connectivity is a human right. We’re committed to ensuring that every learner, regardless of their background, has access to quality education and global information through initiatives like The Learning Hub.”
Collaborative Support and Vision
The involvement of Zone V Camera Club, donating gadgets crucial to communities, emphasizes the collaborative effort behind this project. Angela Panlilio, President of the club, expressed excitement about the transformative impact The Learning Hub will have on beneficiary communities.

Arlene Fernandez, Executive Director of Virlanie Foundation, highlighted the alignment of this learning center with their objective of providing quality education to children. The Foundation aims to create a safe space for children who have faced abuse, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in their goals.
A Sustainable Vision
The Learning Hub goes beyond immediate impact; it supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), specifically SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. This initiative is integral in PLDT and Smart’s ongoing efforts to nurture educational and livelihood opportunities, fostering overall digital inclusivity.
In summary, The Learning Hub signifies a commitment to building a digitally inclusive society. It leads transformative change in communities by granting access to education, technology, and a pathway to a brighter future.
