Negros Power farmers’ livelihood support took center stage as Negros Electric and Power Corp. (Negros Power) marked its second anniversary with a community initiative in Bacolod City.
The company held the Roots of Hope: Farmers’ Livelihood Support Program on August 25, 2026, at Purok 18, Barangay Alangilan.
The initiative supported the Alangilan Granada Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Farmers Association, Inc. through the donation of various vegetable seeds and seedlings. Negros Power also provided crates and a canopy to help strengthen the farmers’ activities.
Support for Alangilan Farmers
The assistance included different varieties of corn, balatong, okra, ampalaya, pipino, kalabasa, talong, tomato, bell pepper, and hot pepper.
Through this livelihood support, the farmers received resources that can help them continue and strengthen their farming activities.
The activity was attended by Negros Power Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Engr. Joe-Mel Zaporteza. Barangay Alangilan Captain Roy Retiza and Barangay Granada Captain Armando Vito also attended the activity.
Negros Power employees joined the event as well. Members of the farmers’ association also took part, led by its president, Renato Parohinog.
The program aims to strengthen local farmers’ livelihoods. It also seeks to promote sustainable agriculture and provide resources that can help improve productivity.
Moreover, the initiative supports long-term community development by giving farmers additional resources for their activities.
Growing With the Communities
The Roots of Hope program forms part of Negros Power’s second anniversary celebration.
The company marked its anniversary with the theme “Growing with the communities we serve.”
Through Roots of Hope, Negros Power continues its livelihood support for communities while promoting sustainable agriculture. The initiative also reflects the company’s focus on empowering communities and supporting sustainable livelihoods.
In addition, the program seeks to help build a more resilient future by strengthening resources available to local farmers.
The farmers’ livelihood support initiative brings together Negros Power, local barangay leaders, employees, and members of the farmers’ association in support of the community.
