The Negros Power massive overhaul: the company dedicated two full days to an extensive infrastructure rehabilitation to reinforce the power grid. The weekend-long upgrade focused on enhancing grid stability and ensuring reliable electricity for consumers in Central Negros.
Critical Upgrades for a Stronger Power Network
The Negros Power Massive Rehabilitation project, conducted on February 22 and 23, focused on two crucial areas: the Burgos Feeder 3 and the 69kV Bacolod-Silay Subtransmission Line. These upgrades enhance the resilience of the power infrastructure, making it more prepared for typhoons and other extreme weather conditions.
For two days, Negros Power teams worked tirelessly, overcoming challenges such as difficult terrain and unpredictable weather to complete the rehabilitation. The scope of work included:
- Replacement of 18 aging poles and installation of 235 new pin insulators along the route from Barangay Granada to Barangay Alangilan.
- Deployment of tree wires to further enhance network stability and reduce outages caused by vegetation interference.
- Replacement of seven deteriorating poles and three insulators along the 69kV Bacolod-Silay Subtransmission Line.
These improvements align with Negros Power’s efforts to enhance distribution reliability and reduce the likelihood of prolonged power interruptions.

The Negros Power Massive Overhaul is Part of the Long-Term Modernization Plan
These targeted upgrades are a key component of Negros Power’s Five-Year Rehabilitation and Modernization Program. The program prioritizes high-risk areas. Its goal is to ensure continuous and uninterrupted service for homes and businesses.
“We are prioritizing preemptive upgrades to mitigate risks before calamities strike,” said Engr. Mervin Dalian, Assistant Vice President of the Network Development and Operations Group of Negros Power. “This Massive Rehabilitation prepares us for potential typhoons, ensuring that power disruptions are minimized.”
