Negros Power River Cleanup Marks 2nd Anniversary

Negros Power river cleanup efforts took center stage as Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) celebrated its second anniversary with the theme “Stronger Together.”

The company reaffirmed its commitment to environmental protection and community stewardship through a River Cleanup Activity on August 4, 2026. The activity was held at Prk. Paghidaet, Barangay Salvacion, Municipality of Murcia.

Held in the early morning, the activity brought together Negros Power personnel and partner organizations. Their participation demonstrated the importance of collective action in protecting the environment and supporting local communities.

Partners Join Negros Power River Cleanup

Leading the activity was Negros Power Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Engr. Joe-Mel Zaporteza.

Representatives from several partner organizations also joined the activity. These included the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Municipality of Murcia, and Barangay Council of Salvacion.

The Barangay Council was headed by Hon. Barangay Captain Jenny Jimenea. The Guardians of the Environment also participated in the cleanup.

Through their collective efforts, the volunteers cleaned the river and its surrounding areas. They also collected and properly disposed of various types of waste.

As a result, the activity helped improve the condition of the waterway. It also contributed to the protection of aquatic ecosystems and the preservation of the surrounding environment.

A Shared Responsibility for the Environment

More than simply a cleanup effort, the initiative served as a reminder that environmental protection is a shared responsibility.

The participation of different organizations and community stakeholders highlighted the value of working together. In turn, collective action can create a meaningful and lasting impact on local communities and the environment.

The River Cleanup Activity embodies the spirit of Negros Power’s second anniversary theme, “Stronger Together.”

It emphasized the value of collaboration among employees, government agencies, community leaders, environmental groups, and residents. Together, these groups can help build cleaner and more sustainable communities.

Negros Power Strengthens Community Commitment

As Negros Power marks two years of service, the company continues to strengthen its commitment to the communities it serves.

That commitment goes beyond providing dependable electricity. The company also supports meaningful initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and community well-being.

The river cleanup in Murcia reflects this broader commitment. It brought employees, government agencies, community leaders, environmental groups, and residents together around a shared effort.

Together, Negros Power and the communities it serves continue to work toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Negros.
