Negros Power shields consumers from power interruptions, proving its commitment to reliable electricity in Bacolod. On Saturday, October 25, 2025, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) scheduled maintenance on the Bacolod–Alijis 69kV line, which could have caused a full-day outage. Thanks to Negros Power’s advanced load transfer system, nearly 50% of consumers avoided any disruption.
How Negros Power Reduced the Impact
The scheduled NGCP outage directly affected Murcia and Alijis substations, serving 93,994 customers. However, Negros Power shields consumers by rerouting electricity through redundant lines and load break switches. This strategic action reduced the number of affected consumers to 47,102, saving 46,892 households and businesses from losing power.

Engr. Leomel Tambanillo, Assistant VP for Planning and Business Operations, explained, “We tied affected feeders to other substations with enough supply. This allowed us to save almost 50% of our consumers from the scheduled outage.” The approach highlights the effectiveness of local electricity management and infrastructure planning.
Strategic Upgrades and System Modernization
Negros Power shields consumers not only during NGCP outages but also through its ongoing modernization programs. These planned interruptions help accelerate upgrades, improve equipment performance, and enhance overall system reliability.

Thanks to these rehabilitation efforts, unexpected outages have already dropped by 70%. Every upgrade, from automation to equipment enhancement, brings Negros Power closer to achieving 100% uninterrupted service across Central Negros. Households and businesses benefit directly from these improvements.
Ensuring Reliable Electricity for the Future
By leveraging technology and careful planning, Negros Power shields consumers during unavoidable maintenance while strengthening local infrastructure. NGCP shutdowns are used as opportunities to enhance the grid’s resilience, ensuring smarter and more reliable electricity delivery.

Negros Power appreciates consumer patience and emphasizes that all ongoing works are designed to provide a stable, future-ready electricity service in Bacolod and surrounding areas. For residents and businesses, this commitment translates into fewer disruptions and more dependable energy.
