PLDT Home Maintains Commitment to Keep Filipinos Connected

If there is one word for PLDT Home, it would be committed. Throughout the years, the company has stayed true to their commitment to keep people connected with their telecoms services.

Connecting Filipinos through PLDT Home

PLDT Home has always been committed to offer communications services to the Filipino people. And despite the emergence of new technologies and competition, they have remained strong as an industry leader.

They have evolved from merely offering phone lines to internet connection. Then it was DSL and now we have Fiber as well as wireless broadband connection.

Connecting Businesses

We are part of the growing Filipino-Chinese households in the Philippines. Through the years, PLDT has always been a part of our household. I can still remember our 5-digit telephone number where three of the digits reminded us of my brother’s birthday.

My father has worked hard most of his life, building the business in order to take care of our family’s needs.

My father is a self-made businessman who grew his enterprise from scratch. He worked hard and saved his income. We live in a mixed-used commercial building in central Bacolod City so that we only maintain one real property. He also sacrificed personal comforts.

Wilmar Enterprises, named after the combination of my parentss names, is our family business.

But part of the growth of our family business may be attributed to the fact that we remained connected to our customers and suppliers through our landline. They could call us to make reservations or pre-order items. Subsequently, we can easily communicate our needs to suppliers in Manila and cebu.

Connecting Families

Years later, we got another phone line for our house. During this time, I was already courting somebody and so the phone line burned through the wee hours of the morning talking to my love. Back then, we called it “tele-babad.”

For years, this girl and I burned the phone lines with our tele-babad every night.

Thankfully, all those hours on the phone paid off because she eventually became my wife. *wink* Looking back now, I miss those times that we can just talk about anything. While we love our kids to bits, wifey and I have limited time to talk because taking care of them takes so much of our time and energy.

Eventually, that phone line became associated with our internet connection. My parents appreciated the PLDT Home (DSL) connection the most when we first got it installed.

My parents with their first grandson, my nephew EJ. He is the first of the third generation in our family. When EJ left for China, Ama and Angkong were very sad. They excitedly awaited for the video call every weekend in order to see and talk to him.

My brother moved to China along with his son–my parents’ first grandson. Their grandson, EJ, lived with us for two years and they helped take care of him. So they were really sad when he left us to join his father in China.

But it was PLDT Home that eased their sadness. It was a joy for my elderly parents to be able to chat or video call with my nephew, thanks to the connection provided by PLDT Home.

Business Diversification

Eventually, our business diversified. Aside from buy and sell, we now have a decals cutout and printing service.

PLDT DSL has enabled us to easily get connected with our suppliers. The internet has opened the doors for us to find new ones and to research for new technologies and materials.

On the client side, there is the convenience in communicating. Orders can be sent through email or messenger with ease. Even designs and graphics can already be sent online. Sometimes, the only time the client visits us is when it is time for them to pick up their orders and pay.

Our business specializes in decals — both for cutout and printing.

These conveniences for our business as well the subsequent productivity would not have been possible if not for the online connectivity provided by PLDT.

Continued Business

Up until now, we are still with PLDT Home, with two phone lines and unlimited internet connection. Wifey and I are both Smart Mobile postpaid plan holders for almost 15 years.

We are just awaiting for our PLDT DSL contract to end so that we could already shift to PLDT Home Fibr for faster internet access.

Thank you, PLDT.
