She is 85 years old and wants to marry her beau who is 24 years her junior, Alfonso Diez. The Duchess of Alba, which is her official title, is one of the wealthiest women in Spain with an estimated net worth between $850 million to $5 billion.
The duchess must be liking the fact that royal weddings are happening this year and wants to add to the roster, from Prince William and then to Zara Phillips.
But her six children did not approve of her marriage because they think that the man is only after their mother’s wealth. So in order to prove that this is not true, the duchess will be giving away all her money to her children before her wedding. Additionally, she had a palace made for each of her children and 8 grandchildren–so that is 14 palaces in all–so that they will just keep quiet. Whew!
Anyway, the duchess also pointed that even if this is her third marriage already, she has never had a divorce while her children are all divorced. So in short, the momma is telling her children that they are not the ones to lecture her on love and marriage. Whew again!
