I will not get into the details of the cases against Rupert Murdoch and his newspapers. This blog is about marriage. But what I would like to commend is the “heroic act” of Mrs. Wendi Deng Murdoch.
During a hearing in a British court, an irate protester lunged forward to smack foam pie at Murdoch’s face. But the sprightly Mrs. Murdoch was too fast for him, leaping to the defense of her 80-year-old husband who is on the hot seat. Wendi Deng had a counter punch against the attacker, as you can see on this youtube video.
Deng is Murdoch’s third wife with whom he has two children, Grace and Chloe. She was a well-educated Chinese national from the mainland who finished her college degree from the Yale School of Management. She has worked in HongKong in the company owned by the Murdoch New Corp.–Star TV. Deng and Murdoch were married in 1997 in New York. She was co-founder and is still is co-CEO of the film production company called the Big Feet Productions.
No matter what people will say about Murdoch, he has a devoted wife who is ready to protect him. Now that in itself makes Murdoch the luckiest man in the world. But of course, being Rupert Murdoch would not hurt either.
