BDO Foundation, the CSR arm of BDO Unibank, continues its pursuit of transforming lives and communities by enhancing healthcare access in Bohol, Philippines. Recently turned over, the rehabilitated rural health units (RHUs) in the Dauis and Inabanga municipalities of Bohol stand as a testament to the BDO Foundation’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility in underserved areas.
Raising the Bar in Healthcare Access in Bohol Communities
The completion of these projects marks a significant milestone, benefitting over 96,000 individuals across 62 barangays. The renovated and optimized RHUs now offer additional primary care services, encompassing outpatient check-ups, vaccinations, treatment for common illnesses, and crucial maternal and child health services.
Focused on refurbishing and upgrading existing facilities, BDO Foundation’s efforts have transformed these health units into comprehensive healthcare hubs. The enhancements include designated waiting areas, play corners for children, spacious offices, clinics, consultation, and treatment rooms. These improvements facilitate a more conducive environment for health workers to cater to a larger number of patients effectively.
Mario A. Deriquito, President of BDO Foundation, highlighted the crucial role of these renewed centers in providing essential healthcare services. They aim to make a substantial impact on the lives of Bohol’s residents. Renovating 15 health centers across Bohol, which covers about one-third of the province’s municipalities, underscores the BDO Foundation’s significant influence on healthcare accessibility.

BDO Foundation’s commitment extends beyond Bohol. Since 2012, it has rehabilitated 154 RHUs across the country. Furthering its efforts, this month will witness the turnover of five more rehabilitated RHUs in various provinces, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Camarines Sur, and Capiz. This relentless pursuit of improving healthcare facilities reflects BDO Foundation’s dedication to uplifting communities nationwide.
