I have written about actress Maricar Reyes in the past. Perhaps my article was among the few positive ones that defended her when she got embroiled in a relationship that eventually haunted her because of the guy’s scandalous behavior. But at that time, it was my sincere hope that she would find a man who will love her for the rest of her life–despite her past. Nobody would want to get stuck as an internet scandal who would be bullied for the rest of her life.
Thankfully, God turned her life around. She was so gracious throughout the ordeal and God honored her humility. And she has found the love of her life in the person of Fil-Chi crooner Richard Poon–a man who not only loved her but respected her as well as her past. When I heard on the news that it was during their wedding yesterday that he first kissed her, as in when the pastor said, “You may now kiss the bride”, I was teary eyed. Finally, Maricar found a man who not only loves her but also respects her and has put her jaded past behind. Thank God for that and I also thank God that my prayers were answered for her. I really felt sad for her in the past. But indeed, God is a God of hope, love, and second chances. Everyone deserves a second chance in love and life. I salute Richard for being the gentleman that he is.
