Davao City, Philippines – On February 10, 2024, the Davao Bloggers Society (DBS) successfully organized its first Valentine-themed virtual hangout titled “Love in the Digital Era: Valentine’s Then and Now.” Foodpanda co-presented this event, which brought together various blogging communities and reputable brands to explore the evolution of love.
A Resounding Success
Under the leadership of DBS President Gem Tadefa, the virtual hangout saw over 70 participants engaging in insightful discussions regarding love and relationships in this digital age. Gem Tadefa expressed, “We initiated the DBS Hangout tradition amid the pandemic to maintain connections with our members. After the pandemic, it evolved into a means of fostering and fortifying relationships with other blogging communities. The hangouts involve casual discussions on various topics and sharing stories in a virtual setting.”

Can’t Stop Talking About Love
The hangout marked DBS’s first Valentine’s Day special since 2020, drawing participants from diverse backgrounds across eight regions. Despite differences, attendees found a common ground in the universal language of love. Lively discussions explored disparities between love in previous generations and contemporary digital expressions. Topics spanned from managing long-distance relationships to leveraging technology for expressing affection and understanding various love languages.
Collaboration and Engagement
The event saw participation from renowned blogging communities nationwide, including the Bulacan Bloggers, CDO Bloggers, Iligan Bloggers Society, Iloilo Bloggers, Inc., Negrense Bloggers, Palawan Bloggers, and SOX Bloggers. Spearheaded by the captivating Michael Carbon, aka Manay, the lively host ensured an entertaining and informative session for all attendees.
Acknowledging Partner Brands
Representatives from partner brands of the Davao Bloggers also graced the occasion, sharing insights about their agencies and industry updates. Jainy Carilla of DM&A Co. teased upcoming campaigns for 2024, while Kim Vargas of Metrobank organized a lively trivia game highlighting the bank’s reliability. Ripple8’s Julius Macalagay and Michelle Opple engaged participants with a quiz, introducing their agency and its accolades. Additionally, Jarren Mateo and Erwin Colcol showcased Cebu Pacific as a trusted airline, offering generous giveaways.

As the Co-Presentor, foodpanda generously provided ₱500 Foodpanda gift vouchers to all attendees, along with an exclusive promo offering ₱200 off for selected food merchants using the code PANDA (T&Cs apply).
Future Outlook
Looking ahead, DBS President Gem Tadefa hinted at more exciting events on the horizon. “The Valentine’s Day special hangout won’t be the last. There will be more, and they will only get better and bigger. We are working on something exciting, a project I cannot disclose. Content creators should stay tuned.”
