GMA Network Shines at the Asian Academy Creative Awards


GMA Network continues its winning streak as 14 of its programs and personalities were recognized as National Winners at the prestigious Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA).

Multiple Awards

GMA Integrated News once again proved its reputation as the “News Authority ng Filipino.” “24 Oras: Super Typhoon Carina Southwest Monsoon” won Best News/Current Affairs Program. “Unang Balita: Ravaged by El Nino” on the other hand, took home the award for Best Documentary Series.

Public Affairs Shows Lead the Pack

Affirming the “Tatak Public Affairs, Tatak World-Class,” of GMA Public Affairs, acclaimed show “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho: If Looks Could Kill” was named Best Infotainment Program. “Reporter’s Notebook: Upuan ni Ipiw” won Best Documentary Program, and “Biyahe ni Drew: Let’s Go to Oriental Mindoro” received the award for Best Lifestyle Program.

Firefly Takes Flight

The film “Firefly”, produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, added another accolade to its growing list. Screenwriter and GMA Public Affairs Senior Assistant Vice President Anj Atienza earned the award for Best Screenplay.

Bringing Pride

Kapuso Comedy Genius Michael V was honored as Best Actor in a Comedy Role for “Pepito Manaloto: Tuloy ang Kuwento”, while the show itself won Best Comedy Programme. Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes secured the title of Best Entertainment Host for “Family Feud Philippines”.

More Entertainment Wins

“The Voice Generations” won Best Adaptation of an Existing Format (Non-Scripted). While the long-running infotainment show “i-Bilib” was awarded Best Children’s Programme. The drama anthology “Magpakailanman: Sa Puso’t Isipan: The Cantillana Family Story” got named Best Single Drama/Telemovie/Anthology Episode.

The launch trailer of “Pulang Araw” also earned recognition as Best Promo or Trailer.

Acting Excellence Recognized

Sparkle artist Kokoy De Santos was celebrated as Best Actor in a Leading Role for the movie “Your Mother’s Son”.

AACA: Honoring Creative Excellence

The Asian Academy Creative Awards, regarded as the Asia Pacific region’s most prestigious award for creative excellence, honors outstanding talent and content from 17 nations. The national winners will represent the Philippines at the Grand Awards and Gala Final in Singapore this December.
