August 2025 Electricity Rates in Negros Occidental: What Consumers Need to Know

BACOLOD CITY – Negros Power August 2025 electricity rates show only a slight adjustment for consumers in Negros Occidental. The utility announced an average residential rate of Php 11.50 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), a modest increase of Php 0.13/kWh from July’s Php 11.37/kWh.

This small increase comes despite a noticeable surge in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), where rates jumped from Php 4.88/kWh to Php 5.46/kWh—an increase of Php 0.58/kWh. Thanks to effective supply management and cost mitigation strategies, Negros Power was able to cushion consumers from what could have been a much higher adjustment.

Why Negros Power August 2025 Electricity Rates Changed

Electricity rates can change every month because of several factors, such as:

  • Market fluctuations in the WESM, which depend on supply and demand.
  • Transmission charges, including Ancillary Services–Reserve Market costs. For August, this charge decreased from Php 622.77/kW to Php 599.12/kW, slightly lowering residential rates by Php 0.02/kWh.
  • Fuel costs and power plant operations, since higher fuel prices or maintenance shutdowns can affect supply.
  • Weather and demand patterns, which influence how much electricity is needed across the grid.

Even with these changes, one thing remains steady: Negros Power’s distribution rate does not change. What moves up or down are the pass-through charges, like generation and transmission costs, which the company collects and remits directly to power suppliers and the transmission operator.

Negros Power keeps distribution rates steady in August 2025, with only a minimal electricity bill increase despite higher market costs.

August 2025 Average Rates in Negros Occidental

  • Residential: Php 11.50/kWh
  • Low Voltage: Php 11.56/kWh
  • High Voltage: Php 10.47/kWh

The Bottom Line

Every month, electricity rates may go up or down because of generation and transmission costs. But Negros Power’s distribution rate stays the same, giving consumers more stability. What makes the difference is how wisely the company manages power purchases. By keeping generation costs under control and using smart supply strategies, Negros Power has kept this month’s increase minimal—even with higher prices in the power market.

For households, this means you can still count on predictable bills and reliable service, without worrying about sudden and painful spikes in electricity costs.
