The Negros Power 2nd anniversary marks two years of operations in Central Negros and a stronger commitment to the communities it serves. The milestone highlights the progress made in power distribution while reaffirming the company’s long-term presence in Negros.
Primelectric Holdings Inc. President and CEO Roel Z. Castro said the company’s purpose goes beyond the distribution of electricity. He emphasized Negros Power’s commitment to creating a lasting impact in Negros.
Castro noted that in just two years, Negros Power has already reached nearly half of its five-year development plan. This puts the company ahead of its initial targets.
For Negros Power, however, the milestone is not only about what has been achieved. It is also about continuing to move forward with a stronger commitment to Central Negros.
Two Years of Progress and Better Reliability
The Negros Power 2nd anniversary also highlights improvements in the reliability of electricity service.
Castro said the system average frequency of outages has been reduced by about 70 percent. Meanwhile, outage duration has been lowered by around 75 percent.
Despite these gains, Castro said the company remains focused on further improving the reliability of the power system.
He also clarified that recent interruptions experienced by consumers are largely caused by insufficient generation supply in the grid. These are largely not caused by Negros Power’s distribution system.
Castro pointed to recurring yellow and red alerts as consequences of generation shortages. Manual Load Dropping has also resulted from these shortages, particularly when major power plants are unavailable.
Because of this, he urged stakeholders in the region to work together in elevating the issue to the Regional Development Council and the national government.
These challenges, however, have not changed the company’s long-term direction.
A Stronger Commitment to Central Negros
Despite the challenges, Castro stressed that Negros Power remains committed to its long-term presence in Negros.
“Though we are in that situation, that shouldn’t stop us from moving forward because what’s happening can be temporary, can be short term, but we are here for the long term,” Castro said.
The message is clear as the company enters its third year. Temporary challenges should not stop Negros Power from pursuing its long-term commitment to the region.
Beyond its core business of electricity distribution, Castro also highlighted Negros Power’s commitment to environmental and heritage initiatives.
These include mangrove planting, forest adoption, and the illumination of the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol.
Castro described these initiatives as part of the company’s effort to establish a legacy that goes beyond its franchise. He also said these efforts contribute to the continued development of Negros.
As Negros Power enters its third year, the Negros Power 2nd anniversary represents more than a measure of progress in power distribution.
It represents a stronger commitment to reliability, sustainability, and long-term partnership with the people of Central Negros.
