Negros Power energizes 57th sitio as another remote community in Negros Occidental officially gains access to electricity through the company’s Sitio Electrification Program (SEP).
Sitio Hibong in Brgy. Don Jorge L. Araneta, Bago City was energized on May 16, 2026. The milestone marks the company’s 57th energized sitio under the program.
A total of 30 households in Sitio Hibong now have access to electricity. The development brings light, convenience, and new opportunities to residents who have waited years for stable power in their community.
To date, Negros Power’s SEP has energized 57 sitios across its franchise area. The initiative has benefited 2,703 energized households out of 3,338 identified potential households.
The electrification projects now cover communities in Bacolod City, Silay City, Talisay City, Bago City, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto.
Expanding electricity access to remote communities
Under the program, Negros Power has installed 803 poles and energized 66 distribution transformers. The company has also completed around 66.9 kilometers of conductors to deliver reliable electricity to remote areas.
The projects represent a combined transformer capacity of 2,383 kVA with a projected demand of 927 kW.
Negros Power has invested a total of ₱52.38 million in implementing the Sitio Electrification Program. The investment highlights the company’s commitment to expanding electricity access and improving conditions in underserved communities.
Engr. Leomel H. Tambanillo, Assistant Vice President for Planning, Business Operations and Sitio Electrification Program and Negros Power Spokesperson, emphasized the value of continuing electrification efforts.
“Every sitio we energize represents hope and progress for the community. Through these projects, we are not only providing electricity but also opening more opportunities for education, livelihood, communication, and better living conditions for our fellow Negrenses,” Tambanillo said.
Residents also expressed gratitude as electricity is expected to improve daily life. Access to power may support students studying at night, strengthen communication access, and create better livelihood opportunities and support for small businesses within the sitio.
A continuing mission toward accessible power
With Sitio Hibong now energized, Negros Power energizes 57th sitio while moving closer to its mission of bringing safe, reliable, and accessible electricity to more families across Central Negros.

As more remote communities gain access to power, the benefits extend beyond convenience and toward opportunities for education, livelihood, and community growth.
