Negros Power Celebrates First Anniversary with Lifesaving Surgical Mission

Negros Power at One Year: More Than Electricity

Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) marked its first anniversary with a meaningful celebration. Instead of a lavish party, the company chose to give back through a four-day surgical mission from August 12–15, 2025, held at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City.

This initiative was carried out under its flagship campaign “Ikaw ang Una” and in partnership with the World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP).

Negros Power First Anniversary Surgical Mission at CLMMRH

The anniversary mission was Negros Power’s second major outreach, following its first at Valladolid District Hospital. Together with WSFP, the recent mission provided free, life-changing surgeries to 17 patients, most of them children who required specialized operations.

Procedures included:

  • Herniotomy
  • Rectal biopsy
  • PSARP (Posterior Sagittal Anorectoplasty)
  • Pullthrough surgeries
  • Closure of colostomy
  • Other major pediatric operations

These interventions gave children—from just a day old to several years of age—a chance at a healthier, brighter future.

Volunteers and Medical Experts Unite

A total of 35 volunteers and staff worked hand in hand for the four-day program. This included:

  • Medical professionals and advance teams from Manila
  • Members of ORNAP Dumaguete
  • The dedicated staff of CLMMRH

Their combined efforts ensured every patient received safe, comprehensive care throughout the mission.

“Ikaw ang Una”: A Promise to the People

“This mission reflects Negros Power’s heart for the community,” said Ms. Maricel Pe, Assistant Vice President for Customer Care and Marketing.

“Through our partnership with the World Surgical Foundation Philippines, we are not just providing electricity—we are empowering lives, one surgery at a time.”

Families of the beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for the free services, which they could not have otherwise afforded.

A Continuing Commitment to Care

With the success of this anniversary mission, Negros Power and WSFP are working toward making surgical outreach a regular tradition. Alongside its commitment to reliable energy, the company also aims to ensure that communities in Negros Occidental have access to essential healthcare.

As it celebrates its first year, Negros Power proves that its first anniversary surgical mission is just the beginning of a lasting promise: Ikaw ang una—the people will always come first.
