Negros Power July 2026 Electricity Rates Rise Slightly

Negros Power July 2026 electricity rates increased slightly, with the average residential rate reaching ₱14.1287 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).

The rate is up by ₱0.2870/kWh from June’s ₱13.8417/kWh.

According to Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power), the increase is mainly due to higher power supply costs in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).

Electricity prices in the market rose because of increased demand and the limited availability of several power plants.

As a result, Yellow and Red Alerts were declared in the Luzon and Visayas grids. These conditions led to higher generation costs.

Negros Power staggers WESM cost recovery

To lessen the impact on consumers, Negros Power implemented a staggered recovery of WESM costs.

Instead of passing on the full increase in a single billing period, the company will spread the remaining balance over the next six months.

As a result, the increase in the generation charge was limited to only ₱0.20/kWh for July.

This approach was adopted to help cushion the impact of higher wholesale electricity prices on consumers. It also aims to avoid a much larger increase in electricity bills for the month.

July 2026 electricity rates by customer type

For July 2026, the average electricity rates are:

  • Residential: ₱14.1287/kWh
  • Low Voltage: ₱14.0494/kWh
  • High Voltage: ₱13.1864/kWh

Compared with June, residential customers saw an increase of ₱0.2870/kWh.

Meanwhile, low-voltage customers experienced a ₱0.3025/kWh increase. High-voltage customers saw a ₱0.3170/kWh increase.

Despite the higher prices in the wholesale market, Negros Power emphasized that the staggered recovery scheme was adopted to help cushion the impact on consumers.

The company also said the approach would avoid a much larger increase in this month’s electricity bills.

Keeping consumers informed about electricity rates

Negros Power remains committed to providing reliable service. At the same time, the company emphasized the importance of transparency.

It continues to keep consumers informed about the factors affecting monthly electricity rates.

The company also encourages customers to practice energy-efficient habits. These habits can help manage electricity consumption and reduce monthly bills.

With Negros Power’s July 2026 electricity rates reflecting higher WESM costs, how do you think the staggered recovery approach will affect consumers in the coming months?
