Negros Power May 2025 rates bring welcome relief to households this summer, as electricity prices drop despite the usual seasonal surge in consumption. With lower generation and transmission costs, consumers across Central Negros can expect smaller bills—even as power usage typically rises during the hot months.
Summer Usually Means Higher Power Bills
The summer months typically bring increased electricity consumption. With electric fans, air conditioners, and other appliances running longer, households use more power—just as rates usually go up. In fact, during this same period last year, electricity rates exceeded Php 15 per kWh, straining many family budgets.
But this May 2025, things are looking brighter.

Lower Rates for May 2025
This month, residential electricity rates have dropped to Php 11.6958 per kWh, compared to Php 12.3563 per kWh in April. That’s a decrease of Php 0.6605 per kWh—a much-needed break in a season when costs usually rise.
Here’s what that means for different households:
- A home that uses 200 kWh this month saves Php 132.10
- A household consuming 320 kWh can expect to save Php 211.36
- A high-usage household at 700 kWh will save about Php 462.35
These savings can be redirected toward other important needs—whether it’s groceries, school expenses, or even just lightening the load on your monthly budget.
Why Are Rates Going Down?
Negros Power credits this positive development to lower generation and transmission costs, including:
- A Php 1.1585/kWh drop in prices from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM)
- A Php 0.2085/kWh decrease in the Emergency Power Supply Agreement (EPSA) from Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC)
- Reduced transmission charges:
- Php 2.82/kW cut in Power Delivery Service (PDS)
- Php 29.31/kW drop in Ancillary Service costs
These cost reductions were passed directly to consumers, showing Negros Power’s commitment to transparency and affordability.
