Negros Power Mt. View Substation Maintenance Completed to Improve Service Reliability

Negros Power continues to show its commitment to reliable electricity distribution with another proactive move—this time through scheduled preventive maintenance at the Mt. View Substation in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

This is part of the company’s promise to go beyond reactive repairs by ensuring that their facilities are well-maintained and future-ready. The goal is to reduce the chances of unplanned power interruptions while steadily improving the quality of service for Bacolod residents.

Why the Mt. View Substation Maintenance Was Needed

The Negros Power Mt. View Substation maintenance took place on April 13, 2025. It involved replacing over 100 insulators and repairing hotspots—key actions that help prevent unexpected power interruptions and equipment failure. These upgrades are necessary, especially as power demand continues to rise in fast-growing urban areas like Bacolod.

The team began work at 6:00 AM and completed it by noon. A short power interruption affected areas connected to the substation. Negros Power announced this ahead of time through its official page. This allowed residents to prepare by charging their devices, adjusting their schedules, and making the necessary arrangements.

The activity also served as a training opportunity for field personnel, allowing them to sharpen their skills and reinforce safety procedures during live maintenance scenarios.

Consumer Support for Preventive Maintenance

Even with the temporary inconvenience, many residents supported the initiative. Residents understood the need for short-term sacrifices to achieve long-term stability in power delivery.

Maria Lopez, a resident affected by the outage, shared her thoughts in the local dialect:

“I understand the inconvenience of a temporary power interruption. But seeing how committed the team was—even under the scorching sun—makes me more confident in the company’s direction.”

Her sentiment reflects the growing trust consumers are developing in the company’s hands-on approach to improvement.

Part of a Long-Term Power Modernization Plan

Engineer Andy Besana, who led the operation, said this maintenance is part of a bigger picture: the company’s 5-Year Modernization and Rehabilitation Program. This comprehensive plan includes equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and the gradual integration of smarter technologies across Negros Power’s network.

“Our goal is to keep our facilities in optimal condition,” Engr. Besana said. “We want to reduce unplanned outages and continuously improve service quality for our consumers.”

This maintenance is one of many planned efforts by Negros Power to strengthen and enhance the region’s power system.

What Consumers Can Expect from Negros Power

Negros Power assures the public that it will continue conducting system upgrades and preventive maintenance—not just at Mt. View Substation but throughout its network. Consumers can expect clearer communication, early advisories, and a steady stream of improvements over the coming months and years.

Proactive power maintenance today means fewer outages tomorrow. And for Bacolod residents, that’s a step in the right direction.
