Negros Power Prepares Ahead: Temporary Office Opened


Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) has opened a temporary office in Bacolod City, showcasing its readiness to commence operations even though the franchise has not yet been signed by the president. The office, which is on the 2nd floor of East 3 Center, Burgos Avenue Extension, Villamonte, where Robinsons Supermarket Villamonte (East) is also located, signifies a significant step in their preparations.

Readiness and Optimism

Negros Power President Roel Castro expressed confidence in their preparedness. Although the president has not yet signed the 25-year franchise, the office is ready to serve customers efficiently from day one. With the Senate and lower house already granting the franchise, Castro is optimistic that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will approve it soon.

Modern Customer Care Center

The spacious customer care center aims to provide a serene and accommodating experience for consumers. Fully air-conditioned and designed to prevent congestion, it ensures comfort and efficiency. The center also includes a business operations hub, highlighting Negros Power’s commitment to quality service.

Joint Venture with CENECO

Primelectric Holdings Inc. and Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) formed Negros Power through a joint venture agreement. CENECO members or account holders approved this JVA via a plebiscite. Primelectic is investing PHP 2.1 billion in capital expenditures to implement cutting-edge systems for a superior consumer experience. The majority of the workforce are notable former CENECO employees, ensuring experienced personnel from the start.

Opening Ceremony and Media Tour

A media tour was held in the morning, followed by an opening ceremony in the afternoon. Consumer and business group leaders, CENECO managers, and stakeholders were present at the opening ceremony. The events showcased the new office’s readiness to serve.

Commitment to Consumer Service

Negros Power has undertaken extensive preparations, including procuring essential electrical materials, training employees, and establishing a 24/7 helpline. The company has also reinforced its vehicle fleet with support from MORE Power, the power distributor in Iloilo City.

The office’s design is notable. It has ample space to prevent congestion and assures safety and comfort for all electricity consumers. The office’s ambiance reflects Negros Power’s commitment to treating consumers with dignity and respect as partners in progress.

Looking Ahead

With the franchise approval pending, Negros Power is targeting to start serving clients by August 2024. The company’s readiness and optimism signal a promising future for power distribution in Bacolod, Bago, Talisay, Silay, Murcia, and Salvador Benedicto. As the company awaits the final approval, its preparations demonstrate a commitment to excellent and quality services for its consumers.
