Negros Power, in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), spearheaded a large-scale tree-planting initiative at Eco Park in Barangay Felisa, Bacolod City. Held on March 5, 2025, this event highlights the shared commitment of both organizations to climate action and fire prevention.
Negros Power Tree-Planting: A United Effort for a Greener, Safer Future
With the theme “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa” (In Fire Prevention, You Are Not Alone), the initiative aimed to emphasize the connection between environmental conservation and fire safety. Trees play a crucial role in preventing soil erosion, reducing heat, and lowering the risk of wildfires—making this project both timely and impactful.
FSupt. Jenny Mae C. Masip, City Fire Marshal, highlighted the importance of sustainable solutions:
“We are acutely aware of the devastating impact of climate change, and we are actively seeking long-term solutions. Tree planting is a vital step in this direction, and we are proud to partner with Negros Power in this important endeavor.”

500 Narra Saplings for a Sustainable Tomorrow
The event saw the participation of over 200 volunteers from various institutions, all working together to plant 500 narra tree saplings—a species known for its resilience and environmental benefits.
Negros Power played a pivotal role in the initiative through its E.A.R.T.H. program (Eco Advocates for Restoration, Transformation, and Harmony), reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.
Engr. Adrienne Carl S. Calvo, Pollution Control Officer of Negros Power, expressed the company’s dedication to environmental advocacy:
“Promoting sustainability and advocating for the environment are core priorities for Negros Power. We are proud to participate in this meaningful activity and contribute to a greener, safer future for our community.”

Strengthening Community Involvement
This collaboration between Negros Power and BFP showcases how partnerships can drive impactful environmental and safety initiatives. By engaging the community, the project not only fosters ecological awareness but also encourages a proactive approach to fire prevention.
Why Tree-Planting Matters:
- Reduces carbon footprint and mitigates climate change.
- Improves air quality by absorbing pollutants.
- Prevents wildfires by enhancing moisture retention in the soil.
- Supports biodiversity, providing shelter for wildlife.
- Acts as natural firebreaks, slowing fire spread and reducing fire intensity.
- Regulates temperature and humidity, lowering the risk of dry, fire-prone conditions.
- Prevents soil erosion, keeping land stable and less flammable.
A Call to Action

Negros Power and BFP’s joint initiative is a call for everyone to take part in protecting the environment. Whether through tree-planting, waste reduction, or energy conservation, small actions can make a big impact in building a more sustainable and fire-resilient future.
