Negros Power is strengthening its community engagement efforts with the launch of its “PaKAPe Program”. This new initiative fosters open dialogue and collaboration with barangay officials and residents in Bacolod City.

PaKAPe Program: Strengthening Community Relations

The PaKAPe Program serves as a platform for discussing plans and programs related to community concerns, focusing on cooperation and stronger relationships between barangays and Negros Power.

“We believe that open communication is key to addressing the needs of our communities,” said Engr. Bailey del Castillo, Chief Operations Officer of Negros Power. “Through the PaKAPe Program, we can work together to ensure reliable and safe electricity service for all.”

Negros Power has been actively addressing concerns about its ongoing rehabilitation and modernization efforts. Through this program, barangay officials and residents can better understand scheduled maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, and power restoration timelines. By fostering transparency, the company aims to build trust and manage expectations as it works toward a more stable power supply.

BReaD: Data-Driven Solutions for Better Service

A key component of the PaKAPe Program is the “BReaD” (Barangay Reassessment Drive) program, which allows local authorities and Negros Power to collect essential data on electrical demand across barangays. This helps identify areas needing upgrades or maintenance while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

“This data is invaluable in pinpointing areas that require upgrades or maintenance,” explained del Castillo. “It also helps determine the annual budget needed for electricity consumption and electric service applications for unmetered barangay facilities.”

Negros Power has emphasized that these assessments are crucial for the success of its five-year rehabilitation plan. By understanding barangay-level power demands, the company can strategically plan upgrades to substations, feeder lines, and distribution systems to prevent unexpected outages and improve service reliability.

BELT: Empowering Barangay Electricians for Safer Communities

To enhance safety at the barangay level, Negros Power, in partnership with TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority), has introduced the “BELT” (Barangay Electrician Livelihood Training) program. This initiative equips barangay personnel and electricians with essential skills to prevent electrical hazards and ensure safer communities.

“This training is crucial for the safety of our constituents,” said Brgy. Taculing Captain Lady Gles Pallen, a BELT program participant. “With the skills gained, we can address electrical concerns effectively and prevent accidents.”

Additionally, this program streamlines new electrical service applications with the help of trained barangay electricians. As Negros Power continues its electrification efforts, BELT-trained electricians play a key role in assisting with proper installations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and expediting service connections in newly energized areas.

Red Zones: Preventing Electrical Hazards in Fire-Prone Areas

Negros Power has also partnered with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to implement the “Red Zones” initiative, targeting 284 fire-prone sitios in 48 barangays. Through information, education, and communication (IEC) campaigns, this program raises awareness of electrical hazards and promotes safety practices.

“This initiative is vital for protecting communities from electrical fires,” stated FSupt. Jenny Mae C. Maisip of the BFP. “By working together, we can educate residents on electrical safety and reduce fire risks.”

This program enhances community safety, reduces fire-related incidents, encourages compliance with electrical regulations, and helps convert unmetered households. As Negros Power continues its rehabilitation efforts, homes and businesses must follow proper electrical standards. This is a crucial step in preventing avoidable power interruptions and system failures.

Negros Power’s Commitment to Safer, More Reliable Electricity

With the PaKAPe Program, BReaD, BELT, and Red Zones, Negros Power is committed to improving electrical infrastructure, safety, and service delivery in Bacolod City. Through these initiatives, the company strengthens its partnerships with barangays. It also empowers communities with safer and more efficient electricity solutions.

Negros Power urges consumers to stay informed by regularly checking its official Facebook page for updates on scheduled maintenance, power restoration efforts, and safety programs. Transparency and community engagement remain at the heart of the company’s mission to provide reliable and sustainable electricity for all.
