Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) recently celebrated the blessing of its temporary office in Bacolod City. This event marks a significant step forward as the company prepares to commence operations pending final approval from the national government. The new office is on the 2nd floor of Robinsons East (Robinsons Supermarket Villamonte), East 3 Center, Burgos Avenue Extension.

Negros Power President and CEO, Roel Castro, expressed his optimism about the company’s future. Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer of Negros Occidental attended the event and shared his positive outlook. He believes the new distribution utility will bring improved services, including affordable rates and prompt issue resolution for consumers. Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran echoed these sentiments, looking forward to transition to a more reliable and efficient power supply.
Preparation and Readiness
Negros Power, formed through a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) and approved by consumer members via a plebiscite, is well-prepared for its operational launch. The company has procured essential electrical materials, trained employees, and established a 24/7 helpline. The reinforcement of its vehicle fleet, supported by sister company MORE Power, ensures readiness to serve electric consumers in Central Negros effectively.
Awaiting Presidential Approval
The franchise for Negros Power has already been approved by both the Senate and the House of Representatives. It is now awaiting the president’s signature to become official. Roel Castro remains hopeful that the president will endorse the franchise soon, allowing operations to commence by August.
