Negros Power continues to extend its impact beyond delivering reliable electricity, this time by participating in a tree planting activity in the scenic highlands of Don Salvador Benedicto. The event, which took place on September 29, 2024, was part of the “Justice for Environment” advocacy spearheaded by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), and it brought together over 500 individuals committed to environmental protection.

Service Beyond Power from NEPC: A United Effort for the Environment

The initiative, supported by Negros Power and other organizations, saw the active participation of its employees, along with the Guardians of the Environment, government officials, institutions, and Indigenous Peoples from across Negros Occidental. Municipal Vice Mayor Nehemiah Joe Dela Cruz was among the key figures present, showing the local government’s dedication to environmental conservation.

In his remarks, Atty. Gerry Llena, President of IBP-Negros Occidental, expressed his gratitude to Negros Power for being a major sponsor of the event. He emphasized the importance of corporate involvement in initiatives like this, where businesses and communities work together for the greater good.

Over 2,000 Trees Planted

Over 2,000 trees were planted during the tree planting activity, including species such as Almaciga, Bacan, Narra, and Acacia, which are crucial to the restoration and preservation of the region’s natural landscape. These trees will contribute to reforestation efforts, provide a habitat for wildlife, and help combat the effects of climate change.
