For safety against Covid-19 as well as privacy, the Thirdwave Restaurant in Bacolod City is offering in-car dining services to their customers. Read more about our unique in-car dining experience a few days after we celebrated wifey’s birthday. This time, it was an in-car date because we left the kids at home.
A Unique In-car Dining Experience
Owner Laverne Traifalfar of Thirdwave Restaurant Bacolod is perhaps the queen of restaurant innovations. Trudging on with her cafe business despite the pandemic, she brought some exciting coffee creations to Bacolod coffee lovers. Then there were personalized mugs for her suki, cold-press coffee in decanters, and delightful Instagrammable sweet coffee mixes.
Then came the food choices. She opened her 2nd floor balcony for exclusive al fresco dining, serve affordable meals, and even offered burgers in black buns. There are so many more and these innovations keep her customers talking on social media and earning her new patrons.
The in-car dining experience is another one of her ideas that gained national attention, as it was featured on CNN. Simply put, this is dining out but inside the safety of your car. With prior reservations, customers may choose to park in front of the restaurant or at the building’s spacious parking lot at the back.
We chose the latter and didn’t regret it. The backside of the building is colorfully painted and lighted like the facade. However, you do not have heavy traffic passing you by with all the dust, smoke, and noise. With only a few cars parking from time to time, it was quite and relaxing in the open-air parking lot.
How In-Car Dining Works
At the ThirdWave Restaurant Bacolod, you have to make reservations and make sure that you show up at the appointed time. You have to tell them where you will park. They will be calling you a few minutes before the appointment to make sure that you are there.
You can order the food beforehand if you are already familiar with their menu. If not, a waiter will come to you and take your orders. The waiter will come back with a wooden plank that will be straddled by your car doors, so you have to open the windows.
After a while, he will be back with your orders. It is best that you send payment by that time so that when the waiter comes backs again to clean up, he will be bringing your change with him.
We actually enjoyed our in-car dining experience with Thirdwave Restaurant Bacolod, not only because of the food, but it was also very relaxing. Since you have no neighboring tables, you won’t have to worry about Covid-19.
For an hour, you get to enjoy stillness with your partner or friend. In my case, it was quality time spent with wifey.
When were starting to feel hot because of the humid afternoon, I just turned on the car aircon. However, I eventually had to turn on the car because we might run out of battery.
Wifey was very happy with the pesto chicken pasta and the cheesy Thirdwave Cheeseburger that she wanted to skip dessert. Thankfully, she changed her mind, otherwise, she would have regretted it. The crunchy cheesecake was a remarkable treat!
Please make prior reservations if you want to avail of the in-car dining experience at the ThirdWave Restaurant Bacolod. This will ensure that you have a spot and they can provide you with the set-up needed. In-car dining is up to 6pm only.
